Port Tower Selion Highlights

Port Tower Selion is an observation tower at Tsuchizaki Port (Akita Port) and one of the facilities that make up the Akita Port Roadside Station. The tower stands approximately 143 m tall, and its observation room, about 100 m above ground, is free to enter. It offers 360-degree views of the Sea of Japan and Akita City.

The name “SELION” combines the words “SEA” and “PAVILION” and was selected through a public naming contest.

This is a retro vending machine that serves udon and soba. It was formerly located at the nearby Sahara Shoten store and attracted attention after being featured on NHK's “Document 72 Hours” in 2015. When Sahara Shoten closed, the machine was relocated to Selion in 2016.
