Highlights of Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge is one of the bridges spanning the River Thames. Designed by Horace Jones, its magnificent Gothic Revival towers immediately catch the eye.

Tower Bridge is a bascule bridge whose roadway lifts when large ships pass through. It opens at the point where the sightseeing bus in the photograph is driving. The dates and times when the bridge opens can be checked on the official Tower Bridge website.

At night, the bridge is illuminated, bringing its imposing towers and blue trusses into relief against the darkness and offering a fantastical scene quite different from its daytime appearance.
