Nelson Monument and the National Monument stand side by side.
Nelson Monument

The Nelson Monument was built to commemorate the victory of the British forces led by Admiral Nelson over the French and Spanish coalition at the Battle of Trafalgar.
It is also sometimes called the Nelson Memorial.

National Monument

The National Monument of Scotland was built to commemorate the Scottish soldiers and sailors who died in the Napoleonic Wars. It was modeled on the Parthenon in Athens.

It seems to have been built on a smaller scale than originally planned due to financial difficulties, but that makes it look like genuine ruins from ancient Greece, and it is impressive in its own way.
Dugald Stewart Monument
