Boots & Kimo's is a café-restaurant in Kailua.
The official name is Boots & Kimo's Homestyle Kitchen. It opened on Father's Day in 1994 to honor George “Boots” Kiakona, the father of the founding brothers. The other person in the name, Uncle Kimo, was someone who helped the brothers build the restaurant. Carrying on its family-related name and cooking, the restaurant grew from its original approximately 800 square feet to a roughly 2,000-square-foot location in 2010.
Pancakes with macadamia nut sauce
The pancakes with macadamia sauce are one of the restaurant’s signature dishes, made from a family recipe. The dish in the photo is the Blue Berry Mac, made with blueberry batter and topped with macadamia nut sauce and blueberry sauce. The flavor changed as I ate, so I enjoyed it all the way to the end without getting tired of it.
In addition to pancakes, it serves dishes connected to family memories, such as Pulehu Ribs, inspired by the seaside barbecues the family enjoyed during their childhood.

Getting to Boots & Kimo's
Boots & Kimo's is located in the Enchanted Lake Shopping Center in Kailua. From central Kailua, the easiest option is to take a taxi or rideshare service to address 1020 on Keolu Drive and get dropped off at the shopping center. After getting out, check the center’s store signs for Suite D1, then continue to the Boots & Kimo's entrance.
