Highlights of Piazza Navona
Piazza Navona is one of Rome’s best-known squares, retaining the long, narrow shape of an ancient stadium. Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers stands at its center, surrounded by the Church of Sant’Agnese in Agone and palaces that create an ornate cityscape.

The square’s landmarks are the Church of Sant’Agnese in Agone and the “Fountain of the Four Rivers”, created by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Personifications of the Nile, Ganges, Danube and Río de la Plata surround the obelisk; the figure in the photograph represents the Ganges.

During the Christmas season, cheerful market stalls fill the square.

Even adults feel like children again.
