Architectural details and the Chihuly chandelier

Hereford Cathedral ornament and Chihuly chandelier
This is an ornament from Hereford Cathedral, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, an authority on Gothic Revival architecture. Scott also designed London’s St Pancras station and the main building of the University of Glasgow.

In the foreground, you can see an avant-garde chandelier by American glass artist Dale Chihuly.

Our article about St Pancras Station introduces the highlights of the station building, practical visitor information, the time needed and how to get there.

Cast and Court Sculpture Replicas

Cast Courts sculpture
The Cast Courts are exhibition galleries featuring precise replicas of famous sculptures and architectural decorations from around the world, including Michelangelo’s David.

Cast Court could be translated literally as something like “Cast Museum,” but the exhibits are not limited to metal casts; they are reproductions made by taking impressions of forms in materials such as plaster.

Celtic cross and Trajan's Column in the Cast Courts
Although they are replicas, the displays include a Celtic cross monument and the enormous Trajan's Column. The arrangement makes use of the tall exhibition rooms, giving visitors a sense of scale comparable to architecture.

Unlike London sightseeing focused on royal buildings such as Buckingham Palace, here you can view architectural decorations and sculptures from various countries together indoors. Since the permanent exhibition is extensive, the time required varies considerably depending on whether you focus on the materials or periods that interest you or explore the museum more broadly.
